La fondation<\/h3>

Les fr\u00e8res Alex et D\u00e9ziel Couture, familiers avec la transformation de la viande et avec les techniques de l\u2019\u00e9quarrissage, fondent Couture enr<\/em>. La Seconde Guerre mondiale: les d\u00e9buts de Jac Food Hub<\/h3>

Les d\u00e9buts de l\u2019entreprise sont modestes, voire difficiles. Mais avec le d\u00e9clenchement de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la demande de glyc\u00e9rine, utilis\u00e9e dans la fabrication d\u2019explosifs, a connu une forte hausse. La croissance s\u2019enracine au Qu\u00e9bec<\/h3>

Dans les ann\u00e9es 70, Murray, fils du cofondateur Alex, donne le ton \u00e0 la deuxi\u00e8me vague d\u2019expansion de l\u2019entreprise, devenue <\/span>Alex Couture inc.<\/span><\/i> Il consolide le march\u00e9 qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois en acqu\u00e9rant tous les petits ateliers d\u2019\u00e9quarrissage situ\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019est de Trois-Rivi\u00e8res. Les op\u00e9rations sont centralis\u00e9es dans une toute nouvelle usine \u00e0 L\u00e9vis (Charny) dans des installations ultramodernes. Un moment charni\u00e8re au Qu\u00e9bec<\/h3>

Apr\u00e8s plusieurs tentatives \u00e9chou\u00e9es, <\/span>Alex Couture inc.<\/span><\/i> parvient finalement \u00e0 acheter un concurrent majeur de Montr\u00e9al. Cette acquisition strat\u00e9gique d'une usine \u00e0 Rivi\u00e8re-des-Prairies double la taille de l'entreprise et consolide sa position de leader dans l\u2019industrie de l'\u00e9quarrissage au Qu\u00e9bec, en lui permettant de s'emparer de 85% des parts de march\u00e9. Une nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration entre en sc\u00e8ne<\/h3>

Les cinq enfants de Th\u00e9r\u00e8se et de Murray Sr Couture font leur entr\u00e9e dans l\u2019entreprise familiale. L\u2019expansion en Ontario et aux \u00c9tats-Unis<\/h3>

Dans les ann\u00e9es 1990, l\u2019entreprise, maintenant nomm\u00e9e Sanimal<\/em>, commence son expansion hors Qu\u00e9bec avec l\u2019acquisition d\u2019une usine \u00e0 Toronto et d\u2019une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de courtage en produits bioalimentaires \u00e0 Guelph. Une phase de croissance importante est ainsi en marche.<\/span><\/p>

Sanimal continue alors d\u2019\u00e9tendre son r\u00e9seau de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration entre 1991 et 2004, p\u00e9riode fertile durant laquelle plus de 35 acquisitions ont lieu. En 2005, le groupe fait une perc\u00e9e aux \u00c9tats-Unis en y achetant deux installations, soit au Wisconsin et dans le Minnesota.

En janvier 2005, la compagnie\u00a0 fusionne avec Anamax, une entreprise familiale de cinq g\u00e9n\u00e9rations d\u2019\u00e9quarrisseurs de Green Bay, au Wisconsin. Martin, Andr\u00e9 et Julie si\u00e8gent dor\u00e9navant au conseil d\u2019administration de Jac Food Hub. Ils sont les trois seuls propri\u00e9taires de l\u2019entreprise familiale et pr\u00e9parent la rel\u00e8ve parmi leurs neuf enfants. L\u2019acquisition de Farima, une entreprise br\u00e9silienne, marque l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de Jac Food Hub en Am\u00e9rique du Sud, suivie peu de temps apr\u00e8s par l\u2019acquisition de Folem.

En janvier 2026, Jac Food Hub quitte le Br\u00e9sil en vendant ses usines.<\/span>

L\u2019entreprise poursuit son expansion en Am\u00e9rique du Sud en acqu\u00e9rant deux soci\u00e9t\u00e9s colombiennes: Agrosan et Proteicol.
